groceries

Loads of fun yesterday as we went to a luncheon with Flo and Petra and their parents and friends and then out to shop a bit in an area that felt like Haight Ashbury. The big pre-wedding party was very nice with tasty food at an italian place down the street from where everyone is staying and literally right downstairs from where Flo and Petra live. One of the sights we encountered was a cruise through the grocery store where I captured this jar of weenies. They also have curry flavored ketchup.... Haven't tried it.. But VERY intigued!

We are basically lounging around the hotel for a bit till we walk to the church for the wedding. I may go out and search out some more espresso while Trina takes a nap..it's been great so far over here...people are really looking forward to Trina's performance tonight. I think Flo and Petra have done an excellent job of letting people know they are in for a treat! We have met people from all over Germany and the world.

And here's where it gets juicy.... this wedding is just a formality for family and friends.... The couple revealed yesterday that they had secretly wed about 5 years ago!! Apparently some family had suspected, but nobody really knew. Also, they were never really sure where to have the reception till it struck them about the StrandPauli club and how perfect it would be for the reception... So, 2 beautiful children and 10 years together and 5 of those secretly married we come to the actual public wedding day of Florian and Petra! Should be about 200 people at the wedding and 50 kids on top of that. Trina will play at about 10 pm.

Here's a grocery tip: "scharf" = "spicy". And when you see "scharf" on a mustard label, let me tell you, they MEAN it!! :)

Well, I discovered that yes indeed 17th Street market has the curry-flavored ketchup, so now I have to try it...I LOVE curry-flavored anything, so this oughta be good! Banana ketchup is good, so curry should be, too.

And thank you, Meredith, for that German grocery tip. I would never have known that and as a mustard lover (I must have 10 kinds in my fridge), I'd've bought some "scharf" and about died...I can't take too much spicy!
