and of course I do need to chime in on John Hughes passing away.

John Hughes movies are my all-time favorites for a Sunday morning into late afternoon time kill...

And for New Years Day.

And Thanksgiving.

And anytime one was one to be honest. It would be hard to do anything else.

Hearing of his passing at the young age of 59 is shocking.

He left Hollywood to try and save his kids from being completely destroyed by being brought up in that vain environment. And he watched that town kill his friend John Candy by overworking the crap out of him in an attempt to get as much out of him as they could while John rode a wave of popularity in the public eye.

Chew 'em up and spit 'em out...

That's my hometown.

While I will always be a California native, I have no love lost for the town I was born in. In fact I think after I got sober and started to become aware I saw that my mom getting us out of Hollywood most likely saved my life in more ways than one.

A pal posted this link about John Hughes passing away. It's a well written account of a woman who corresponded with him for a few years.

He served me well with his craft... his movies had a sweet impact on me.

R.I.P. John Hughes.
