Now I really am cooking!

Finally got out... and did some grocery shoppin' for the meal I wanted to prepare. It was preceded by a wonderful lunch and great conversation with my pal David. It didn't seem as bleedin' hot out today but we were only walking around for about 15 minutes then back to the crib. I bet it's close to 80 something degrees with a fairly nasty amount of humidity. It's supposed to storm later.

We saw Julie and Julia the other day in Minneapolis. And I really enjoyed it. And I just saw an article about how cooking relieves stress and the like. That movie seems to be sparking some great conversations about food. I know for a fact that cooking is something that balances me. I love knowing that. And I love feeding people good food. I will rarely slap together something substandard. And while some of my legendary dishes are often repeated... it's usually because that's what I would like to eat. Funny how that happens. But the whole thing about feeding people is more than eating what you want. It's about nourishing people from the inside out.

And portion control...

My signature meals are:

Build your own burrito bar

Kapama

Drunken chili

Over the top salads

Roast chicken and veggies

all of the above are my faves... but really it's the kapama that takes the cake.

I have mastered it and I channel my godmother Irene when I make it. She was a great cook. I don't know if she loved doing it, but... Judas Priest! She was good at it!

It smells really yummy in here... Irene would be proud.

I can't wait to see J & J. And I agree with all you say about cooking, it's my catharsis. Most of mine happens on the grill, I can grill anything, comes from growing up working in my Dad's restaurant.
