You know, 10 years ago I was a fairly successful realtor.
Spending ALL of my free time in Laguna Beach California. I had several cars, a nice art collection, and I worked all the time... even when on vacation. I made decent money, and there were moments I thought I had really made something of myself. Of course... the lesson I would learn (in hindsight) was that nothing material would make me a better person.
I dropped names, and went to glitzy parties where I was the only one who never drank. I ran as fast as I could with a crowd waaaaay too caught up in the Southern California rat race and much too wealthy for me to ever be financially equal with. I still love some of these people dearly as our friendships endured my exit from that lifestyle. Friends are so important. Enduring friendships are the best mirrors. I can't always see clearly if I've been a good friend or not, but I'll have to hope I am. I always have the chance to make amends and to get outside of myself and go contribute to others.
I still love art... though I have very little of it left... and all those cars? Pretty much gone. Well.. I'm driving the beloved El-Frida and she has served me well... but she's no flashy sporty thang for sure! I should give her credit for having the best astroturf interior ever in a conversion van though!
Funny how a 35 year old lived her life then and what she made all that money and glitz mean in her brain.
I'm older now.
One thing remains the same..
Coffee = love.
