El Potrero is the taco joint I ate at in Hilton Head. It was the only amazing food there besides all the deliciousness that "Chef C" made in her spacepod for me. The table sauces at this place were amazing. It wasn't that the food was that creative... it was a mexican food place catering to a largely latino customer base on an island of alot of white republican people with some cool democrats trying diligently to do good things. Hilton Head was and is still a weird thing I haven't completely processed yet.
But I digress...
El Potrero's table sauces..
One was orange.
One was green.
My first love was the orange and then I fell head over heels (and stomach) for the green. Asking gently what was in it the answer was tomatillos. I asked if that was all... then she said jalapeno's. There were other things in there.. it was creamy... maybe some sour cream and some cumin?
The fun for the day will be picking up some tomatillos from one of the coolest shoppes in Bisbee called Vavoom (no, they do not sell produce!) but my friends have some garden delights to share with me. So I am going to attempt to come close to replicating this wonderful sauce that I loved! I miss that suace... I miss my pal Cathryn more, but since all we did was work.. and really never got to play... I missed her long before I left. And let's face it... my mental state teetered on "GuadaLOOPY" so I wasn't much fun anyhoo..
So it's "Table Sauce Wednesday" here in Bisbee at the wee beach house. It's always fun to experiment and possibly fail miserably at trying to do something that you might eventually get kinda right! Does that make sense?
And I also want to report I made my first trip out to "Bingonia" last night as I tagged along to a birthday party at the house of Doug and Bingo. What a fun spread, and the party was really sweet, and wacky. Everything I wore smells like the fire I stood by, but that was fun too... and it was cold last night! And it's cold this morning.. I'll be thinking about that carbon monoxide detector purchase soon. Can't quite see my breath in the house.. but it's close!
