Hmm..

So...this is what it was like when Led Zeppelin and New Order entered the household when I was young... I can just feel The Mother Unit's pain. When I was that age, there were the last vestiges of disco giving way to the 80's fun and danceable good times and Led Zeppelin still being played on the radio. Wait... even I was LISTENING to the radio then! I was no different than the average 16 year old in these current times.

But it's that mainstream stuff aimed right at them that they go right for. Like a moth to a flame.

The music that a 16 year old listens to in this day and age is pure garbage. It's the people programming the keyboards, drum beats, and the producers that are cranking it out with little talent behind the actual microphone.

I take solace in knowing that there was actual talent behind the music I listened to in my youth... fueled by a few bong hits perhaps, my appreciation was devout and the scope of my music tastes quite varied. Led Zeppelin may have stolen parts of quite a few old songs... but Jimmy Page could play the guitar like few others and Robert Plant could freakin' belt it out! No drummer has ever compared to Jon Bonham ever since in my book. And multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones doing bass and keyboards was the perfect compliment to a well rounded band.

In The Mother Unit's day... big band music was all the rage. That too was actual talent.

I'm living in my musical past and cursing the day auto tune was ever invented, and even more disgusted that it turned into an actual artistic element of today's Top 40.

Dude... that's not talent.
