Empowering?

I saw this scroll by on the twitter:

"Don't get caught up in a past that never was or in a future that may never happen."

I look at this solely from a work perspective. And I am both inspired by it and deflated by it.  Where is my grey area??  My grey area is in continuing to put one foot in front of the other and asking for work and making new connections. But the initial hit from that statement had my old tape in my head saying, "You'll never get to a higher level.." and I immediately thought about how much I have learned over the years and how much I love tour managing. Especially after this past summer's ill- fitting tour.

I may never get to work with bigger artists than I already am and having a spot on the team with Andy and Nick and crew is great, but that band doesn't tour enough or pay enough but they do pay the stated amount we settled on (which is a plus). They are such excellent human beings that I would never say no unless someone booked me prior.  Then again, I may get a lucky break and have a chance to get on a team for a bigger tour that fits.

That's the kind of lottery win I'd want. And in the end, it's the journey of doing what I love that makes it pretty damn special. 

Time to get to it... 6:28 already!
