It is beyond blustery out there! Auntie Em! It's a twister!
Not really that severe, but the wind gusts are working hard to strip every last leaf off the nearly bare trees and then some. I wish it would blow all of the dust offa El-Frida... my gawd, she's a dingy roller these days!
So... let me report on the Rachael Sage show here in Bisbee.
It went quite well! In fact, I'd say that personally it exceeded my expectations. One very generous lady here in Tiny Town even threw a 100.00 bill in the tip bucket. Ummm... Wow!
2 sets... Miss Sage belting out her beautifully crafted songs with chutzpah, and lots of hilarity in between. Lots of folks came to the show as a result of hearing her on KBRP and the interview the Noah Suby did for his 200th radio show "The B Train" and that was pretty sweet to see radio actually make such a difference. Getting the audience to snap clap or tap in time was sometimes a challenge... (was it the alcohol?) but in the end it was an evening filled with people loving this artist and being grateful she chose to come to Bisbee.
For me,this is a somewhat magical and sweet town that can really surprise you in so many ways. And moving this show 3 times, and being able to get a room full of people to come and enjoy a show on fairly last minute venue notice is more than admirable in my book. To be as straight forward about this let me say, I know that we are not a booming metropolis of things to do... but the things that come through town are usually just about as quirky and fun as the people. Last night I'd say the crowd (and it was a good sized crowd) really got Rachael. Even so much that several people went up and hugged her during the break!
That... uhhh.... doesn't happen in New York City.
That is the kind of thing I love about Bisbee. And that is the kind of thing I love about watching live music... watching people be so moved by what they are seeing. And also allowing myself to be moved by all of it as well. The evening was a well rounded fun time and I cannot thank Shawnee enough for running some delicious sound... and my pal Rod for letting me use that room for this. Truly two of my favorite men in this town. Loooong before last night even!
And now, in between wind gusts...
I'm gonna haul up to Tucson for Rachael's show up there as I am lending out some sound gear for the event. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and hoping that show goes great too!

And to sum up Rachael Sage in Bisbee.
This town "gets" her. She wears sequins and has boas.. she can tell a joke like nobody's business and she's lovely. What's not to enjoy?

I am happy to read it was Windy, Wendy. I felt bad missing El Tour this year but reading that it was windy makes me feel good about missing it. I would have struggled to get to the finish for sure.
Hope you are well. ~ KC
