When I rolled into Bisbee last night, I went to the post office to grab the mail and ran into a woman I know here in town. We chatted about my recent trip to Florida, and about my job at the co-op. I basically said that I felt very appreciated in both of these jobs.
She looked at me and said , "I haven't been appreciated at a job in decades."
Wow.
My brain immediately flipped over to how that explain why she has a more negative outlook on life. I know that kind of stuff colors how I personally react to the world. A glimpse into someone's human condition. And a chance to have some compassion.
I do feel appreciated. And it's not just the (now 4 cups of) coffee fueling that thought.
