And so it begins..

I gotta find a positive spin on this....
Anyone??
Bueller??
Bueller??

This goodness happens tamale!

Scenes from Darien.

Scrimp boats off in the distance too...

I was looking for gators... tide was too high though.

Buildings made with "tabby"
"True tabby is made of equal parts lime, water, sand, oyster shells, and ash."

Cool, huh?

It's not rocket science!

Ok, for her is IS Rocket Science! This is our pal Kelly who is the one of the big brains behind the aero-thermo-dynamics of NASA's Orion Capsule. Oh... and she Steve are Marvin's (my cat) real parents.

For me?
Not so complicated... not easy... but not that complicated. Go to a meeting, pay attention, do what's in front of you and be nice. That nice part is more directed at me being gentle with myself than anything.
I had a good booking/followup day for Trina.

I am still lagging a bit on my other booking projects as I have realized I just don't know the music well enough to sell it. Seems simple, right?

Why do I need to know more about the music from these guys I have agreed to try and book? It's probably because somewhere in my skinbag is a decent salesperson... and I need to know what I'm selling. I have no real reference points coming in blind like this. So I have asked for some materials. If I am going to try and help book them... I gotta know more.

It's the Layton Way!

I am feeling like the morning walk will yield some real beauty and some smiles. I got to visit with a couple of Darien folk last night when I took some kapama to the guys at the wine shop. Nice guys, and they were the first ones we met when we first rolled into this sweet town.

I'm watching the R and M Classic Auto Auction... that is some sexy heavy metal.
( a Ferrari is on the auction block for$ 2,075,000) Holy Crap! And it's going to sell!

Best Halloweenus costumes I saw on the web!

yes...yes and more yes!

Sometimes I borrow video from a sight here or there...

So this is TOTALLY ripped from Dlisted!

Yes... Michael K my absolute fave big gay blogger has posted something I cannot resist re-posting. Damn he's good...

This is how I choose to start my day. A little Alice mixed in with my caffienated state. I am busy pounding the emails and pouring over schedules... yesterday's video luxury was great but I have stuff to do! So I have fired up another computer to be able to do both.

It's frightening, really.

But seriously... and I do mean that... if you don't want the Debbie Downer part of the blog post this morning...

STOP READING NOW!!!!

Here's my one question... (no, not where's my cat...I know where he is..) but my question is this:

If you are basically homeless and far away from your community you say you live in (and I do mean gone most of the year... ) and you feel a great dis-ease around the chaos of the home you were setting up that's now uninhabitable...  and you don't really have the cash to randomly go back for a few months... and you don't want to put your friends out by asking that they house you... and basically part of the truth is that you suck at asking for help anyways... and your time to "go home" is rapidly approaching... and mostly... your mother who you dearly love is probably wondering if you are EVER coming back...

How does one reconcile this in the ol' brain?

When I slow down enough to look at the enormity of all that I have going on that is less than easy, I realize how I am running as fast as I can by trying to stay busy. Part of that is doing what's in front of me... you know, doing the next right thing.  The other part is trying to fend off the fear of letting go of/losing everything.

Maybe I am fooling myself into thinking I am really doing ok (?) and maybe I am really hanging by a thread.

I have plenty to do today. And I'll be staying as present as possible and I'll find an AA meeting.

More hot new video!

I do miss doing this more often... I need to get back to it.

New video!

Erin McKeown from her show at Eddie's Attic last week...

Parting shots for my hosts in Darien.

My pals have departed... leaving me to the wi-fi laden confines of their condo on the water. I take that as an indicator to get the hell to work on booking duties and follow-up.

I have Mary Granata duties to pursue... as well as my usual Trina goodness to keep moving forward.

I have Anchorman with Will Ferrell on in the background. Now it's time to look at the schedules and get to it.

Scrimp boats at sunrise

It's a perfect morning here.

Rosey and Blossom wandering around and Julie and Amy up and ready to have morning beverages.

They head back to Decatur today so I am on my own for a few days. We will reconnect on the 5th up there.

Coffee is done...gotta go!

Boatin'

Yay! The boat fired up!

It's 84 degrees here today!

Looking for gators and stuff...

What are the chances?

Name the food item

???

Clark and Clark!

The most excellent Julie Clark.. and her fave candy bar aptly named... The Clark Bar!

This should be fun...

Today is the day.

The big game.

Yes... sports.

Georgia and Florida.

It wouldn't matter to me one bit if I weren't in Georgia.

Not only is the Georgia mascot a bulldog... but the town of Darien is on fire for this game which starts at 3:30.

Plus, our buddy Mike is making quail kebabs with bacon! And that would be right downstairs!

And tonight... dinner in with the ladies including Cathryn!

Rosey N Me in Darien.

Me and Rosey are having a nice sweet morning here looking out at the scrimp boats...

Much coffee has been consumed and I have high hope that we will go out on a boat a bit later on some of the local waterways.

Funny thing is.. the boat may or may not fire up..and we are fully anticipating getting stuck/stranded if we do get out there.

Fun!

10.30.2009

Bialetti's, early mornings and traffuck.

My glass is half full.

Except when it comes to traffuck. We will be heading into the tail end of Atlanta traffuck and my only hope is that we judged the time right.

Starting the day without bialetti coffee just because I forgot to put thwe grounds in the wee pot. Oops.

Giving that the glass half full spin?

Musta needed to have hot water run through for cleaning.

We have 5 minutes.... I had better get crackin'

Is your glass half full today?

10.29.2009

Late nite coffee stuff.

Making a bialetti for Bunty for her drive at asscrack:30.

She'll need it for the 5 am drive! Trina and I are lucky in comparrison with our 7 am drive.

It's good to spread the coffee love...

The Bunty!

Bfast orbs!

The meal was jam packed with goodness...

Good food.
Good conversation.
Good weather.

And good lighting!

10.28.2009

it's a choice.

I chose to bury my head in work today... took a stroll, but really have too much on my plate that needs tending to.

I keep saying days off the road are gonna suck... but really right now I need the time to catch up and continue to move forward in organizing and getting things done that really need doing. Today was a bunch of calls on booking and some advancing.

But not before the best breakfast in Atlanta at The Flying Biscuit!
Awesome! Wonderful! Fun! A definite must!

We bid Lyndell and Chris goodbye and now we wait for The Bunty... and Erin to roll into town. Which actually should be pretty soon here. All is pretty good here it is a lovely non-raining day... perhaps I can get back outside like..... RIGHT NOW!
